Is My Phone Tapped? Spyware Detection & Removal Guide (2026)

Does your battery drain suddenly, your phone heat up, or do you hear strange noises? You might be carrying a "spy" in your pocket. Here are 100% accurate detection and removal methods.

Smartphones have become the black boxes of our lives. Everything from bank passwords to private photos, location history to voice recordings is stored there. However, as technology evolves, access to Spyware and tracking programs known as Stalkerware has become frighteningly easy.

Phone tapping, once exclusive to state intelligence, can now be done by a jealous spouse, a rival company, or a malicious hacker who buys a $50 software online. So, is your phone clean? Or is your every move being watched?

CRITICAL WARNING
"If your phone heats up or the screen lights up by itself at night while not in use, there is a 95% chance that spyware is running in the background and transmitting data."

1. 5 Sure Signs Your Phone is Tapped

No matter how well spyware hides itself, it always leaves a "footprint" on the hardware. If you are experiencing at least 2 of the following symptoms, you are right to be suspicious.

🔋 1. Sudden Battery Drain Did your battery normally last a day, but now drains in half a day despite no change in usage? Spyware keeps GPS and Microphone active, draining the battery.
🔥 2. Unexplained Overheating You're not gaming or watching videos, but your phone feels "burning hot" in your pocket. This is the biggest proof that the processor (CPU) is running secretly.
📡 3. High Data Usage Check Settings > Data Usage. If "System Services" or an unknown app has used 3-5 GB of data in a month, your photos might be uploading to a server.
🔊 4. Static and Echo in Calls Lines used to be bad, static was normal. But on modern 4G/5G networks, if you constantly hear a "click," echo, or distant voices, a recording software might be interfering.
📱 5. Ghost Touches If the phone restarts itself, opens/closes apps, or Wi-Fi/GPS icons flash on their own, the device might be controlled remotely.

2. Control with Secret Codes (USSD Codes)

You can check if calls or messages are forwarded to another number with simple codes. Type these codes into the dialer and press call:

Code What Does It Do?
*#21# General Forwarding Query: Shows if your calls, messages, or data are forwarded to another number. Everything should be "Disabled".
*#62# Unreachable Forwarding: Shows where calls go when your phone is off. (Usually your operator's voicemail, which is normal. But if an unknown personal number appears, DANGER!)
##002# Cancel All Forwarding: This is the magic code. It cancels and resets all spy forwarding on your phone with one touch. Do this if you have doubts.

3. How to Remove Spyware?

Don't panic. If you are sure there is spyware on your phone, there are ways to clean it.

Method A: Antivirus Scan (Basic)

Download a trusted mobile security app like Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, or ESET and run a full scan. You can delete simple spyware (Adware, etc.) with this method.

Method B: Factory Reset (The Ultimate Solution)

Advanced spyware (like Pegasus) hides inside system files and antiviruses cannot see them. The most guaranteed method is:

  1. Back up your photos and contacts to the cloud (Google Drive / iCloud).
  2. Settings > General > Reset > Factory Data Reset.
  3. Very Important: Do not select "Restore from Backup" when setting up the phone again. Because the virus might be hiding in the backup. Set up as a "New Device".

4. Corporate Espionage Risk

Not just individuals, but companies are targets too. Rival firms can infiltrate your employees' phones to steal tender offers, client lists, and R&D projects. The security of the company Wi-Fi network (Firewall) is vital at this point.
